DEERFIELD, ILL. — February 5, 2020—Selected Independent Funeral Homes Educational Trust has just appointed Bea Pedersen as its first-ever Executive Director. Ms. Pedersen has served the Trust for the past two years in the role of Development Director, a position for which she came highly qualified after serving in leadership roles for more than 20 years in the nonprofit industry.

“My entire career has been spent in the service of others,” Ms. Pedersen explained. “But being able to work for and provide educational opportunities for the members of the independent funeral service profession has been my greatest honor and privilege. The compassion, leadership and dedication with which these practitioners serve their communities set the bar for the level of professionalism I strive to emulate.”

In expressing her feelings about this new role at the Trust, Ms. Pedersen, stated, “I am honored that Selected’s Board of Directors and Board of Trustees has entrusted me with this new role. It is my hope that I will continue to serve them and this profession with passion, wisdom, integrity and forbearance. The Trust has made great strides in these past two years. But this is just the beginning of our journey to bigger and better opportunities for the members of this profession. With the continued help of the Board and the funeral home owners and employees who have supported the Trust, the best is yet to come!”
