Gerald Hartsel Walker, 74, of Cabot, died Monday, April 25, 2016. He was born September 7, 1941, to the late Glendon Walker and Edyth Bryant Walker. He was of Methodist faith and in his younger years he was involved with the youth at his church. He was a member of Cabot Masonic Lodge #319, where he served as Master of the Lodge. He served as past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and was active as a mentor of Job’s Daughters and Demolay. He recently received his fifty year certificate as an embalmer and funeral director. Gerald and his late wife, Angelene, were former owners of Cabot Funeral Home, and he previously served as Lonoke County Coroner.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette “Nut-Nut”; children, Tamara R. Walker, Gerri Shelton (Don Weathers), and Pamela Eddy (Joey); grandchildren, Angelene Nichole Shelton, Jordan Eddy, Haley Michelle Shelton, Claire Elise Walker, Shelby Elizabeth Eddy, Derek Weathers, and Lacy Weathers May; and a great grandson, Jeffrey Shelton, who was born on Gerald’s birthday; cousins, Charles Kellogg of Oklahoma City, OK, and Darla Riddle. He leaves behind many children that he loved and mentored like a father, in addition he is remembered fondly by other family, extended family and friends. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and always having a cigar.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Masonic Rites. Memorials may be made to Cabot Masonic Lodge, 750 West Locust Street, Cabot, Arkansas 72023.
