Dan Robert Duren

Dan R. Duren, age 62, of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017.  Dan was born December 20, 1954, in Yellville, Arkansas to the late Robert Marion and Betty Jo (Burns) Duren. He was a 1972 graduate of Yellville-Summit High School and a 1976 graduate of UCA in Conway, Arkansas.  Dan was former owner/operator of Burns Funeral Home in Yellville and in 2015 when it became Roller-Burns Funeral Home, he continued as funeral director. In his capacity as owner and funeral director for Burns Funeral Home he served and ministered to many families in Marion County and beyond.

Dan served as Marion County Coroner from 1999 – 2016, on the Board of Directors of Bank of Yellville/Arvest Bank in Yellville, a former Captain of the Yellville Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of Yellville Chamber of Commerce. He was Grand Marshall for Turkey Trot in 2014. Dan was an Arkansas Razorback fan, a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and an avid fan of 11D Racing. He was a faithful, active member of First Baptist Church in Yellville where he served as deacon and trustee.  He is survived by his wife, Susie, of the home; his daughter Amanda Johnston of Benton, Arkansas; his son Hunter Duren and his wife, Mikala, of Yellville, Arkansas; two brothers: Glen Duren of Yellville, Arkansas; and Mark Duren and his wife, Susan, of Harrison, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Addison, Reese, Hank, and Gunner; and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral service was March 19, 2017, with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating and  interment followed at Layton Cemetery in Yellville, Arkansas.  Pallbearers were Shawn Lane, Heath Davenport, Matt Davenport, Kyle Davenport, Kandy Methvin, and Joe Don Sharp.  Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church, Staff of Burns Funeral Home, Dalo Dixon, and Keith Evans.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Yellville; or the Yellville City Park.
