Homer J. Smithson

February 27, 1919 - October 13, 2011

Homer J. Smithson, 92, of Springdale died Thursday, October 13, 2011.He was born February 27, 1919 in Marshall, Arkansas the son of John T. and Susan Harris Smithson. He retired from Ferguson Country Store in 1983; served in the United States Army and was a POW in Germany. 

He attended Calvary Church in Springdale and his church life consisted of deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent; loved spending time with his family and lived his life for them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy L. Smithson, January 23, 2011, parents, 4~brothers, 3~sisters. Survivors include his children, Bruce Smithson and wife, Rose and Enos Smithson and wife, Janette all of Springdale; Ellis Smithson and wife Eva of Greenbrier, AR, Carol Majors and husband, Bobby of Judsonia, AR and Wrenita Abbott and husband, Joe of Springdale; 15~grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 17, 2011 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Reverends Clark Snow and Roy Grinder officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.Visitation will be Sunday October 16, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels 203 Park Street Springdale, AR 72764.
